Santander Reimbursement: How It Works

Some Santander bank clients are expected to receive reimbursements due to improper charges, which were agreed upon between the bank itself and the Central Bank.

For this, Santander stated that it will release more than R$79.14 million, which should be paid as reimbursements to clients who were affected by any bank infractions between January 2014 and February 2022.

Regarding the amounts the bank will pay, the transfers will be made according to the terms established in the commitment agreement signed on May 16.

Other Santander Reimbursements

The bank will not only make payments for reimbursements due to improper charges; in addition, the financial institution committed to paying R$8.05 million as a pecuniary contribution.

These payments function like a fine, serving as compensation for some disapproved conduct.

According to Santander itself, all committed infractions have already been definitively resolved. Furthermore, the bank’s representatives state that more than 90% of the inappropriate amounts charged have already been returned.

The bank also informed that it will fully refund the amounts within the deadline established by the Central Bank, as well as take all necessary measures to prevent improper charges from happening again.

Who will receive the amounts transferred by Santander?

The financial institution announced that all people who suffered from improper charges between 2014 and 2022 should receive the reimbursement amounts.

Moreover, the bank made it clear that those entitled to these amounts will be contacted by Santander to be informed. Therefore, if you have experienced this issue, you should wait for the company to get in touch with you.

According to the Central Bank, Santander must contact customers via phone, email, or SMS to communicate about the situation.
